Protect your digital art works
Have you ever had an image you created stolen from your site and passed off as somebody elses material? This tutorial will teach you how to create an anti-rip process which once completed, can be set up in seconds.
I will choose this picture to edit.
1. Firstly, open up a new document of size 20×20pixels +. This will be dependant on the amount of text you wish your anti-rip to have. For example if you want to merely have ’PREV’ as your text, a 20×20pixel document is what you wish. However, if you want you site name, we suggest using something a little bigger. - Below is a size selection image-

- Below is these selections filled with text -

This should give you some idea of the size document you wish to have.
2. Ensure that this new document has no background, so that it look like the pictures above. Next on a new layer add some ’scan lines’. If you do not know how to create scan lines please open this link in a new window ’ click here.
If you get stuck trying to insert them into your document, please look at the animation below.

3. Now we need to add our anti-ripping text. This text should either be something saying ’Preview’ (or similar), or can be something marking this material as your sites. I suggest, for the clearest outcome, you choose the following settings:
FONT STYLE
Font:Arial Size:8pt Aa:Smooth
4. With these settings in place, insert your text into the canvas. - Should look like picture below-

5. You may be thinking that the text does not fit in properly. This is because we need to rotate the text to a 45 degree angle. To do this, click one of the corner nodes, and whilst holding SHIFT, move the cursor to change the angle. - Help image below -

6. Your image should now look something like below.
.
As you can see, the lines behind of my text are quite off-putting, and make the text illedgible. To get rid of these you need to use the rectangular marquee tool to delete them. New users can follow the animation below which will show you what to do.

IMPORTANT: In my screenshots, the background is set the white. This is PURELY to make the screenshots clear, and you should DELETE the white background if you have one.
7. You are almost done now, your anti-rip should look something similar to this -below-
.
With this completed, you need to go to ’Edit’ > ’Define Pattern’ and name it ’Anti-Rip’. If you are confused by this please follow the animation below.

Now you have made your Anti-Rip, and to embed it into any of your pictures, follow the next step.
8. Open up the image which you wish to protect.

9. Create a new layer, and then press Ctrl + A to ’Select All’, right click and go to ’Fill’. In the fill box, select ’Pattern’ and find your anti-rip pattern.
-If confused by last step follow this animation
